In a very short time, Reverend Barry & Funktastic Soul featuring the Hellacious Horns have enjoyed a rocket-ride of success. This super-tight 8-piece funk & soul band has been packing dance floors in SRQ and St. Pete since their very first gig on Halloween of 2013. This high-energy dance band covers the most popular dance hits by well-loved artists like Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Kool & the Gang, James Brown & more. Plus, their funky hook-laden originals are catching on with audiences all over the Suncoast. The band is recording in the summer of 2016 and plans to have their first album available in the fall.
Yaya Diamond’s award-winning vocals and magnetic stage presence keep the audience spellbound. Reverend Barry belts out Stevie Wonder, James Brown and more on vocals while holding down the groove on the bass. 23-year old virtuoso Chet Gass not only plays lead guitar, keyboards & talk box…but also sings lead, backing vocals and raps. “The Hellacious Horns”, a super-tight 3-piece horn section brings these great songs to life in the way they were meant to be heard.
The Hellacious Horns is excited about the addition of Kenny Anderson, a brilliant saxophonist who has spent 20 +years touring with the likes of Larry Carlton, Tom Jones, Bobby Caldwell, Gloria Estefan, Arturo Sandoval, Buster Poindexter, Ilan Chester, Franco DeVita and others.
To round out the sound even more, in the past year the band has also added keyboardist Jayar Mack. Jayar is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, arranger, producer, as well as a gifted singer. His amazing list of musical accomplishments is much too long to list here, but it includes a Grammy Nomination with Latin Jazz Group CINTRON, as well as sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in r&b/soul music such as The Manhattans, The Delfonics, The Stylistics, Peaches & Herb, Heatwave, The Chi-Lites and MORE.
