Musicians, performers, restaurants, vendors, volunteers, sponsors and everyone that participated in any way – we can’t do this without you! Pat yourselves on the back for making Giving Hunger The Blues a hugely successful block party – regardless of the weather.

From everyone at All Faiths Food Bank and Giving Hunger The Blues – thank you for helping the children in our community!

If you were unable to attend for weather related reasons, or any reasons at all, and still would like to contribute to our cause, please click on the link below! Any amounts are appreciated and will go to the children’s programs run by the Food Bank. Every $5 gives them the ability to feed 40 children a meal!

In Sarasota County over 50% of children in schools qualify for free breakfast and lunch. What do they do for dinner and on the weekend as their families cannot afford to feed them? The All Faiths Food Bank’s BackPack Program gives a backpack of food to each child so that they can eat over the weekend and during school holidays (25 schools | 25 Volunteer Packing Sites | Over 50,000 backpacks distributed).

For every $5 collected at Giving Hunger The Blues, the All Faiths Food Bank can buy enough food for 40 meals.

In 1996, fueled by a desire to make a difference “Giving Hunger The Blues™” was born.

it’s mission … to provide those less fortunate with the most basic of needs … food.

From this modest beginning fifteen years ago as an extension of the annual Share Our Strength Taste of The Nation event, “Giving Hunger The Blues™” has grown each year and has become the All Faiths Food Bank’s biggest one day fundraiser, having contributed, to date, over eight hundred thousand dollars.

Giving Hunger The Blues™ Mission Statement

To feed, nurture and protect the children in our community.

In Sarasota County, one of the most affluent communities in Florida, one out of ten of our neighbors combat hunger every day…of those, 33% are children.

We are continuing our partnership with The All Faiths Food Bank, and help to fund The Kid’s Cafe.

Food is more than a meal. It can serve as a magnet to individuals who may be reluctant to ask for help from other programs and services. The outreach efforts of All Faiths Food Bank can link them to intervention services that help them achieve self sufficiency.

The Kids Café provides nutritious evening meals in a safe and supportive environment to children at risk of going hungry at night. This program complements existing afterschool tutoring and study sessions.

Giving Hunger The Blues Block Party!

An all-day event, featuring local musicians, restaurants, children’s games and family entertainment, “Giving Hunger The Blues™” has become one of the most anticipated events of the year, attracting in excess of 5000 people committed to fighting hunger and protecting our children.

Live bands on two stages, one exclusively showcasing local youth bands under the age of 18.

Games and activites for children sponsored by The McCrae Family Foundation.

Korean Martial Arts demos from Lee’s Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Martial arts demos from Capoeira Volta Ao Mundo.

Delicious food and beverages from many local businesses.

Raffle with incredible prizes.

Local musicians, bands, performers and artists donate their talents and time every year.
