Giving Hunger the Blues is an annual, one-day music festival. Formerly a Southside Village street festival, this year GHTB20 will relocate to the iconic Van Wezel Performing Arts center on beautiful Sarasota Bay. GHTB20 is a family-friendly event featuring three stages of live music, including the popular youth stage, dance performances, martial arts demonstrations and great food and beverage vendors. Each year, the festival brings phenomenal music, great food and family fun for all ages.
Previous artists have included American Idol’s Syesha Mercado, The Allman Brothers Band’s Dan Toler, Rick Derringer, John Mellancamp’s Larry Crane and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson have all performed at Giving Hunger the Blues.
The mission of Giving Hunger the Blues is to feed, protect and nurture the children and families of our community. Founded by George Generoso of the Generoso Foundation in 1996, Giving Hunger the Blues has generated more than $1.4 million to support that mission. This year, Giving Hunger the Blues will support The Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota/Manatee County, The Mayors Feed the Hungry Program and The Generoso Foundation.
